After you complete your application on line, EDD will send you a continued claim form to complete and mail back to them, after they receive it they will determine if you are eligible or not, if you are you will get your first check with another claim continued form. Every two weeks the continued claim forms are submitted. You can avoid any delay in getting your benefits if you follow certain things which are the following: Make sure to read the handbook which provides you with all the benefits and employment services, this handbook is sent to you with the claim you filed and it explains in it how to complete the form. Make sure to use black or blue ink not any other color when you complete the forms or they will not be clear or show at all when they are submitted to the electronic scanners. Make sure to not skip any question but answer all of them and check the boxes with and x when you need to mark an answer. When you report your wages report Gross not net which means before taxes where deducted from your net pay, it does not matter when you received the paycheck. Make sure you report accurately and receive the pay and wage information. Write the hours you worked throughout the week if you are working part time.
